ANTI-FOULING COATINGS USAGE COMPUTATION

Assume a 6' x 15' hull with 3' of freeboard and a 2' draft.

To compute gross registered tonnage (GRT):

• 6' x 15' x 5' = 450 x .67 = 300 ft3 within the hull

• 300/100 = 3 GRT

To estimate square meters of surface coating:

beam 5' x 15' x 2 = 150 ft2

bottom 6' x 15' x 1 = 90 ft2

stem 6' x 5' x 1 = 30 ft2

270 x .67 = 180 ft2 x 0.092903 = 16.72 m2

To compute estimated coating usage per application to oceangoing vessels:

• Multiply GRT by 16.72 m2 = GRT x 5.57 = m2 total coverage

3GRT

• Multiply m2 total coverage x 25% = SL1000 (underwater) coating requirement in m2

• Multiply SL1000 usage in m2 x 0.215 = liters SL1000 required

EXAMPLE

25,000 ton vessel (the SS Fair Princess)

SS Fair Princess (Princess Cruises/P&O Lines, registered in Monrovia, Liberia);
ship's official measurements in feet:

Max length of hull 608'(L)

Max width of beam 80'(W)

Draft from Plimsoll line to bottom of keel 29'

Height from Plimsoll line to top of super structure 80'

Total height 109'(H)

Conversion Factor Computation:

GRT=(LxWxH)/100

GRT=(608x80x109)/100 = 24,724

25,000 x 5.57 = 139,250 m2 total coverage

139,250 m2 x 25% = 34,812 m2 x 0.215 = 7,485 liters SL1000 or SL2000 (one coat)

COMMERCIAL & NAVAL COATINGS USAGE ESTIMATE

MARITIME TONNAGE: 392,392,578

NAVAL TONNAGE: 22,338,750

TOTAL: 414,731,328 GRT

ESTIMATED COATING REQUIREMENTS:

414,731,328 x 5.57 = 2,310,053,497 m2 total coverage

2,310,053,497 x 0.25 = 577,513,374 m2 underwater

577,513,374 m2 x 0.215 = 124,165,375 liters SL1000

ESTIMATED ANNUAL MARKET:

(assuming a mean 1.5 - 2 year effective life span for contemporary coatings)

124,165,375 liters

2 years = 62,082,685 liters underwater paints

578,668,401 liters or 144,667,100 gallons

SUMMARY OF WORLD MARKET POTENTIAL

Although the preliminary survey does not project potential sales of anti-foul paints, the magnitude of world maritime usage (estimated in excess of 175 million liters per year for military, commercial and tanker fleets plus a like volume for non-commercial and privately owned craft, totaling 350 million liters per year) represents a highly significant market.

A combination of proven products, superior in quality and environmental safety factors to existing materials, plus a well defined marketing plan and resources to service the maritime industry, should provide the basis for an extremely favorable return on investment.

Miscellaneous Pricing Information

A 25-28 foot hull requires approximately 4 liters (1 gallon) of paint (copper, copper-nickel or vinyl-copper based) ranging in wholesale price between $20 to $32 per liter in 4 liter pails. These paints retail between $40 and $52 per liter ($160 - $225 per gallon).

By comparison, SeaPro paints would require approximately 3.6 liters to coat the same hull (10% less paint required).

1 gallon of SeaPro C001 will paint a 30 foot hull.

25,000 ton vessel (SS Fair Princess, P&O Line)

608’’ hull length 80’’ beam Draft (from Plimsoll line to bottom of keel) 29’’

1,875 gallons of SeaPro C001 required to paint below Plimsoll line.

SeaPro wholesale prices should be approximately $120 to $195 per gallon. They should be retailed between $185 and $255 per gallon.
